Rear Admiral Riley D. Mixson, United States Navy (Retired), is President of RDM Associates. Admiral Mixson retired from active duty 28 February 1994 and founded RDM Associates, an aerospace consulting firm that provides senior-level consulting and advisory services to market corporate products in both the defense and commercial sectors. His clients include major international corporations that are involved in aerospace manufacturing, integrated systems support, and software development. He has remained active in the defense requirements process serving as a member of the Defense Science Board, the Naval Studies Board, the Air Force Science Advisory Board and other Department of Defense advisory committees.

Prior to establishing RDMA, he was the Director of Air Warfare for the Chief of Naval Operations, responsible for the planning, programming, budgeting and management of all naval aviation force structure requirements. He was the architect for the twenty year Naval Aviation Plan that today provides the backbone force structure for current deployed naval forces. Other Pentagon assignments included top-level positions in resource planning, systems analysis and financial management. He also served as an acquisition manager in the Naval Air Systems Command. His joint service assignment was as the Executive Director of the Joint Strategic Defense Planning Staff, United States Space Command.

During Operation Desert Storm he served as the commander Carrier Task Force Red Sea and commander Carrier Group Two, a three carrier battle force consisting of over thirty allied and coalition ships, 300 aircraft and 25,000 men and women. Earlier in his career he commanded the aircraft carrier USS Midway, the combat logistics support ship USS Roanoak, a Carrier Air Wing and a Carrier Light Attack Squadron. He has over 5,600 pilot hours in 41 aircraft types, 920 carrier landings and 256 combat missions in Vietnam.

Admiral Mixson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Vanderbilt University, a master’s degree in business management from the U.S. Naval post Graduate School and a master’s degree in international affairs from the George Washington University. He serves on the corporate boards of Rolls-Royce North America, Thales Training and Simulation, Jason Associates and the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum.
