George Gagen is a top-level technology leader in transportation, logistics and supply chain management, with over 30 years experience in financial management, strategic planning and systems development.
As President of Transentric LLC (formerly Union Pacific Technologies), Mr. Gagen refocused the company to be a market leader in supply chain execution software and in doing so, increased revenues to a record $34 million. Through his leadership, the company successfully changed its culture, organizational design and business processes to meet market demands.
During his role as President, Mr. Gagen was instrumental in positioning Transentric for acquisition, working closely with investment bankers and venture capitalists. He assembled a leadership team of top-performing managers focused on growth and market leadership; initiated the successful launch of a new breed of supply chain event management solutions, which resulted in the application for five new patents; and increased efficiencies by restructuring technology, sales and product development within the company.
In 1998, as Executive Vice President, Mr. Gagen led a strategic planning effort and identified growth potential for Union Pacific Technologies, which resulted in the eventual formation of Transentric. He managed all marketing and sales efforts for the company and expanded sales into international markets. Prior to that, he was one of three principle officers who created Union Pacific Technologies. In this role, he functioned as CFO and senior planning officer, while managing all administrative activities.
Mr. Gagen began his career in transportation technology and systems management with Missouri Pacific Railroad, eventually becoming Director of Corporate and Commercial Data Systems Development. While at Missouri Pacific, he led an effort to develop and implement an inventory management system that helped regulate the flow of grain trains to the Port of Houston, Texas. He subsequently testified before the Joint Economic Committee of Congress on Rail Transportation Information Systems and how they can improve and enhance international trade and U.S. Port operations and infrastructure.
Currently, Mr. Gagen is on the Board of Directors of the Mid-County YMCA and is the past First Vice President of the St. Louis Chapter of the Financial Executive Institute. He has served on the Board of Amtech Logistics Corporation, a start up equipment tracking company. In addition, he and his wife of 31 years are former co-presidents of the Parents Council at the University of Delaware. Both continue to be active volunteers in various organizations within the St. Louis community.
Born in the St. Louis area, Mr. Gagen completed the Executive Program at the University College of Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri.
