Jim Channon is a strategic designer, large systems imagineer and global futurist. His high-speed illustrations have captured the visions of 10 of the world's largest 100 corporations. As the U.S.Army's futurist he created the original designs for the National Training Center, the Army's High Tech Light Division and the Training Center for the 21st century. He is a graduate of the Army War College and holds Masters degrees in military tactics, human communication, and geopolitical strategy. He is best known for his scenario work with the First Earth Battalion, a mythical culture that produced new missions for the American army.
Jim's one-of-a-kind imagineering skills in meetings involve the visual compression of ideas and summary graphics. He is the creator of AVL (advanced visual language) and the VRX (virtual reality experience). Jim is also the creator of adventure theater and has taken corporations and leaders into virtual worlds using aircraft, costumes, horses, story-tellers, and high-tech sound and light. He has proposed entertainment projects with Steven Speilberg's DREAMWORKS and eight other film industry giants including a new Las Vegas show about the phenomena of light.
Jim just completed a teaching post at the vaunted University of Michigan Business School where a thousand managers from Reuters were schooled in his creative skill set which includes imagination, systems illustration and storytelling. Jim is the director of the Arcturus strategic design group and his services, publications, and clients can be reviewed at arcturus.org under those respective titles and others. Scroll down under Jim Channon for a detailed review of his many published works and other creative projects.
He is a fellow at the World Business Academy. In this capacity he just launched a ten-year vision project with one hundred other global fellows to create a vision for the planet for the next century. His first prototype vision for the 21st century was published by the academy; view at worldbusiness.org.
As a social architect Jim just completed a leadership development plan for the country of Malaysia; a 20/20 vision process for the greater Spokane bioregion; and a 20/20 future vision for the island of Hawaii where he lives. He has created an original school of social architecture also viewable for the public on his website.
Jim has lived in Europe seven years, in Asia three years, and in fifty locations overall. He has connections on all continents and in many tribal communities. He is creating a global visual language and the basic tenants for a global civilization.
